City of Joy
La República Democrática del Congo ha soportado 20 años de violencia devastadora. La violación se ha utilizado como arma de guerra para destruir comunidades y acceder a minerales preciosos. Con frecuencia, a Congo se lo conoce como «el peor lugar del mundo para ser mujer». «City of Joy» cuenta una historia diferente de la región. La película se centra en Jane, una estudiante en un centro donde mujeres que han sufrido abusos inimaginables se unen para convertirse en líderes. También nos encontramos con los fundadores del centro: un devoto médico congoleño, un activista congoleño y un radical dramaturgo de N.Y. La película se entrelaza entre la alegría y el dolor cuando estos individuos se unen para exigir esperanza en un lugar tan a menudo considerado inútil.
